Join Us for a Community Sewing Event!

The event we held with the Avenir last December was such a success, we decided to do it again. This time we will be sewing tote bags for the Crossroads Safehouse (https://crossroadssafehouse.org/). The tote bags will utilize grain/malt bags that local breweries typically toss in the landfill, so this project has two beneficiaries—Crossroads and the environment. The bags will look similar to the one here.

We are finalizing the bag design, but, at the event, full instructions will be provided. Besides the grain bags that being provided, we will also need fabric for the band around the top, fabric for binding the inside seams (or pre-made double fold bias tape), and web strapping for the handles. We will be asking for donations of these items when we can be more specific about needs, but, in general, any length of fabric that is full width (42” aka WOF) is great. Even a quarter yard x WOF can be used.

When: Saturday, March 29, 10am to 3pm
Where: Avenir Museum, CSU, 215 East Lake Street
