Community Sewing Day - October 18, 2025

Join ASG Fort Collins and the Avenir Museum for our next Community Sewing Day!

When: Friday, October 18, 2025, 10a-3p

Where: Avenir Museum Classroom

Project: Scent cloths for PVH NICU

We're excited to partner again with the Avenir Museum to create something special for our community. This time, we'll be making scent cloths for the Poudre Valley Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These cloths help premature babies and their families bond by carrying familiar scents that provide comfort when parents can't be present.

About the Event:

  • Open to ASG members and the general public

  • All skill levels welcome- from cutting to sewing, there's a role for everyone

  • Sewing machines available or bring your own

  • Materials provided, but donations of baby-appropriate 100% cotton flannel would be appreciated!

  • Great opportunity to learn about ASG and meet fellow sewing enthusiasts

Our previous Community Sewing Days have been incredibly successful, with participants creating over 100 pillowcases, 22 pet beds, and 65 tote bags for local charities. This meaningful project continues our tradition of using our sewing skills to support families and organizations in our community.

Community Sewing Day Recap

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Community Sewing Day, where our amazing volunteers came together to create 62 tote bags for the women and children served by Crossroads Safehouse. This event, co-hosted by the Avenir Museum and the American Sewing Guild Fort Collins Chapter, not only showcased the power of community but also helped keep nearly 62 plastic grain bags out of the landfill!
