Community Sewing Day - October 18, 2025
Join ASG Fort Collins and the Avenir Museum for our next Community Sewing Day!
When: Saturday, October 18, 2025, 10a-3p
Where: Avenir Museum Classroom
Project: Scent cloths for PVH NICU
We're excited to partner again with the Avenir Museum to create something special for our community. This time, we'll be making scent cloths for the Poudre Valley Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. These cloths help

premature babies and their families bond by carrying familiar scents that provide comfort when parents can't be present.
About the Event:
Open to ASG members and the general public
All skill levels welcome- from cutting to sewing, there's a role for everyone
Sewing machines available or bring your own
Materials provided, but donations of baby-appropriate 100% cotton flannel would be appreciated!
Great opportunity to learn about ASG and meet fellow sewing enthusiasts
Our previous Community Sewing Days have been incredibly successful, with participants creating over 100 pillowcases, 22 pet beds, and 65 tote bags for local charities. This meaningful project continues our tradition of using our sewing skills to support families and organizations in our community.

October 2025 Community Sewing Day with Avenir Museum
On October 18, 2025, our chapter teamed up with the Avenir Museum for another successful Community Sewing Day! With 19 participants—including six ASG members and 13 community volunteers—we worked together to create scent cloths for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Poudre Valley Hospital. These small pieces of flannel help parents and babies stay connected, even when they can’t be together at home.
Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we made a total of 386 scent cloths! The event drew in a few museum visitors who, inspired by our efforts, decided to join in and help. The Manager of Volunteer Services at PVH was thrilled with the donation and has already approached us about supporting another project for the hospital.
This event is a wonderful example of how our guild gives back to the community and brings people together through sewing. We’re grateful to everyone who participated, donated materials, or helped organize the day.
If you’d like to get involved in future community service projects, please keep an eye on our events calendar or contact our Community Service Chair, Stephanie Rusk.

Spring 2025 Community Sewing Day Recap
We are thrilled to share the success of our recent Community Sewing Day, where our amazing volunteers came together to create 62 tote bags for the women and children served by Crossroads Safehouse. This event, co-hosted by the Avenir Museum and the American Sewing Guild Fort Collins Chapter, not only showcased the power of community but also helped keep nearly 62 plastic grain bags out of the landfill!
