A heartfelt thank you for showing up and supporting our recent Community Sewing Day benefiting the women and children served by Crossroads Safehouse. Thanks to the incredible turnout—31 participants—we collectively created 62 tote bags and filled a bag with toiletries. Even better, our work kept nearly 62 plastic grain bags out of the landfill!
This was the second Community Sewing Day co-hosted by the Avenir Museum and the American Sewing Guild Fort Collins Chapter, and we’re already looking ahead to hosting another one this fall. If you’re not yet familiar with our organizations, we invite you to learn more:
The Avenir Museum is a free public museum and part of CSU’s Department of Design and Merchandising. It features rotating fashion-related exhibits and offers volunteer opportunities that give you a peek behind the scenes. Learn more: https://www.chhs.colostate.edu/avenir/
The American Sewing Guild – Fort Collins Chapter promotes sewing as both an art form and a life skill. We host monthly meetings, special programs and classes, field trips (like to the Avenir!), and support each other’s sewing journeys. Learn more: https://fortcollinssewingguild.org/
If you’d like more information about either organization, feel free to contact Leta Smith or Sarah Lillis.
We hope you had a great time—and maybe even made a new sewing friend!
